ABOUT US
Heart of the City is a group of citizens
interested in maintaining the small-town character
and quality of life found in our community.
Our mission is to advocate for sustainable change
and promote the public goodby working with government
and other citizens in the visioning and planning of our communities.
Guiding precepts:
- Successful communities develop policies and practices that ultimately:
- Eliminate our community’s contribution to fossil fuel dependence and wasteful use of scarce metals and minerals.
- Eliminate our community’s contribution to dependence upon persistent chemicals and wasteful use of synthetic substances.
- Eliminate our community’s contribution to encroachment upon land, water wildlife, forests, soils, and ecosystems.
- Meet human needs fairly and efficiently—meeting basic needs for clean air, water, food and shelter before provision of luxuries.
We are launching this campaign because we care, and we think you do too.
Keep in mind that the long-term cost of doing nothing about this will be much greater than the cost of doing something now.
